How to Collect More Than 2,000 Characters of Text in a Form?

This feature is only available for Pro and Team subscribers.
By default, rich text fields in NoteForms support formatting (bold, italics, hyperlinks, lists) but are limited to 2,000 characters. If you need to collect longer submissions—like blog posts, essays, or detailed reports—you should use the Page Body Input block instead.

Why Use Page Body Input?

The Page Body Input allows form responses to populate the body of a Notion page, not just a database property. This removes any character limit and is ideal for long-form content.

Key Differences:

Rich Text Input

Max: 2,000 characters

Saves to a Notion database property

Allows basic formatting

Page Body Input

No character limit

Saves directly to the Notion page body

Best for long or complex submissions

When to Use Page Body Input

✅ Blog or article submissions
✅ Meeting notes or summaries
✅ Journaling or open-ended forms
✅ Anything longer than 2,000 characters

How to Add a Page Body Input to Your Form

Go to your form’s edit page.

Click “Add a block” (upper left corner).

On the right panel, under Custom Blocks, click “Page Body Input.”

Publish and save your form.

FAQ

I don’t need a Page Body Input, but I can’t enter more than 2,000 characters. Why?

If you're using a text input field, make sure you've enabled Multiple Line Inputs. Sometimes users hit the character limit faster due to line breaks, spaces, or formatting.

To fix this:

Go to the settings of your text input field.

Under Text Options, enable Multiple Line Input.

This allows for better handling of longer responses under 2,000 characters.
