How to Filter Options in My Notion Relation Input Field?

Filtering allows you to display only relevant items in a relation dropdown — like showing only upcoming events, available slots, or active users.

Steps to add filtering to a relation field:

  1. Click the ⚙️ Settings icon next to your relation field.
  2. Under Relations Filtering, select a field to filter by.
  3. Click Add a Condition, then choose a condition (e.g., equals, not equal, after, before).
  4. Set the value that the condition will check against.
  5. Click Publish or Save to apply the filter.

Use filters to customize the form experience, making selections smarter and more contextual for your users.

Notes:

  • Ensure your related database is shared and accessible by NoteForms.
  • If relation filter options are not loading or you see an error such as Something went wrong when querying the relation, first disconnect and reconnect the related database, then share it again with NoteForms.
  • Where is my relation field/column?

If the related database is already shared and reconnecting does not help, the issue may be caused by a temporary bug with relation filtering. In that case, please contact support and include your form URL, the exact error message, and the filter condition you applied.
